MemoryKick MediaCenter Keeps it All Together

MediaCenter Review
You ever wish you had a digital wallet that not only helps show your digital photos but also stores and plays just about everything else digital in your life? The MemoryKick Media Center is a pretty cool device that can serve as your own personal digital hub. From storing digital picture files and playing video and music files to simply moving digital files from your computer to a memory card, the MediaCenter can keep your digital life organized and portable.
Most people don't realize that you can use a memory card (like an SD card or Compact Flash card from your camera) as a portable digital transfer device. For example, you might have a video or a few digital pictures on your computer that you'd like to transfer to another computer. Well, the MediaCenter allows you to transfer your favorite pictures, music or videos to your friends and family by moving them from one card to another, or from your computer to a card.
You can bring your MediaCenter to a friend's house, take their memory card, and transfer a digital file, like a music file, onto their card. Now, they own it! If you're sitting in the room with five friends and they all want that group shot you took on your digital camera a few minutes ago, simply take the memory card from your camera (whether its SD, CompactFlash, XD or MMC) and transfer it to the Memory Kick MediaCenter. Then take your friends cards and move it from the MemoryKick to their cards. It's all very simple which is the way us Tech Confused Dads like it.
Also, the MemoryKick MediaCenter is releasing their latest firmware update that adds support for viewing RAW image files from many of the major manufacturers of DSLR cameras. The MemoryKick MediaCenter supports RAW file formats from such manufacturers as Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Olympus, & Samsung, which is great news for advanced photographers or pros that can use the MediaCenter as a downloading clearing/storage device.
The MediaCenter can also play your music and video files for others to watch. It comes with portable headphones and you can play the videos either off your card or USB device, or you can transfer it to the hard drive (it comes in 30, 60 or 120 GB versions) and keep it on the device. It's a lot easier than carrying around your laptop to show videos and slideshows.
Just a word of caution -- my experience has been that the MediaCenter works much better with PCs than with Mac computers. It does not play back MP4 multi-media files, or Quicktime movies but those improvements will be forthcoming.
All in all, think of the MediaCenter as a great portable hub for almost anything digital. And at only 5.6 oz, it's lightweight, and pocketable. This digital wallet makes digital life a bit easier.
